Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about Disability Care
Non-medical home care focuses on assistance with daily living activities (ADLs) and instrumental activities (IADLs) to support independence at home. It includes personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and mobility support without medical procedures or nursing. Private pay services like those from NtongoCARE offer flexible, personalized support for people with disabilities.
Adults and children with physical, cognitive, developmental, or other disabilities who need help with daily routines but do not require (or prefer not to rely solely on) publicly funded medical care. This includes those seeking more flexible hours, immediate availability, or specialized non-medical support beyond government programs.
Publicly funded care (via Ontario Health atHome) is needs-assessed, often limited in hours, and may involve wait times. Private pay offers greater flexibility in scheduling, caregiver selection, service customization, and immediate start times, paid directly by the client or family.
Services typically include personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting), meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, companionship, mobility assistance, respite for family caregivers, transportation to appointments or outings, and community integration support. Plans are tailored to individual needs.
No referral or prescription is needed for non-medical private pay home care. NtongoCARE conducts an initial consultation to understand needs and create a personalized care plan.
Costs vary by location, hours, and services but typically range from $36–$40+ per hour (subject to current rates, contact NtongoCARE for a quote). Packages for part-time, full-time, or live-in care are available. No government co-payments apply for fully private services.
Clients pay privately (out-of-pocket, via savings, insurance, or benefits). We offer transparent hourly or package rates with flexible invoicing. Some clients use disability tax credits, ODSP supports, or long-term care insurance to help offset costs.
Yes. Many families use NtongoCARE’s private services to supplement limited government hours, fill gaps, provide specialized support, or ensure continuity during evenings, weekends, or holidays.
NtongoCARE Canada Inc. provides non-medical home care and supportive services. Our caregivers may assist with daily routines, companionship, personal support, meal preparation, reminders, mobility support, respite, and safety monitoring. NtongoCARE does not replace physicians, nurses, emergency care, or regulated clinical services.
