PSW Job Application FAQs

Applying to become a Personal Support Worker with NtongoCARE should feel clear, respectful, and transparent. These FAQs explain what happens after you apply, what documents you may need, how the hiring process works, and what NtongoCARE looks for in compassionate home care professionals.

After you submit your application, NtongoCARE reviews your information, work experience, availability, location, certifications, and suitability for home care work. If your application matches our current needs, we may contact you for the next step, which may include a phone screening, interview, document review, reference checks, and onboarding.

The hiring timeline depends on your availability, required documents, references, interview scheduling, background screening, and current client needs. Some applicants may move quickly, while others may take longer if documents or checks are still pending. A strong application with complete documents, clear availability, and fast communication usually moves faster.

Applicants may be asked to provide:

  • Resume and Cover letter
  • PSW certificate or proof of relevant training
  • Government-issued ID
  • Vulnerable Sector Check or police record check, where required
  • CPR and First Aid certificate, if required
  • Immunization or TB-related documentation, if required for a placement or client setting
  • References
  • Proof of work eligibility in Canada
  • Driver’s license and vehicle information, if the role requires travel

A PSW certificate is strongly preferred for most Personal Support Worker roles. NtongoCARE may also consider applicants with related caregiving experience, equivalent training, or relevant home care experience depending on the role, client needs, and compliance requirements.

Because home care work involves dignity, safety, privacy, and trust, applicants must show they can provide reliable, respectful, and competent support.

Experience is helpful, especially in home care, long-term care, dementia support, disability support, personal care, or companionship. However, NtongoCARE may consider newer PSWs who show professionalism, compassion, good judgment, reliability, and willingness to follow care plans.

Skill matters. Character matters too. A certificate without kindness is just laminated disappointment.

The pay range depends on the role, location, shift type, experience, required duties, and whether the position is part-time, casual, overnight, live-in, or extended care. NtongoCARE provides competitive PSW compensation based on experience, service type, shift requirements, client needs, and location. The pay range will be listed in the job posting or discussed during the hiring process.

NtongoCARE looks for PSWs who are compassionate, reliable, patient, respectful, punctual, professional, safety-conscious, and comfortable supporting people in their homes. Strong communication, privacy awareness, and emotional maturity are essential.

Yes. Selected applicants may receive orientation to NtongoCARE’s expectations, documentation practices, client privacy, safety procedures, communication standards, care plan responsibilities, and professional conduct.

NtongoCARE PSWs may support seniors, adults with disabilities, people living with dementia or cognitive changes, post-hospital clients, family caregivers needing respite, and people who need help with daily living routines

Some client settings, partner organizations, or care environments may require health-related documentation such as immunization records, TB screening, or other clearance documents. Requirements may vary by role and setting.
