PSW registration with Ontario’s Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) is currently voluntary. NtongoCARE encourages PSWs to stay informed about registration, oversight, ethics, and professional accountability requirements as Ontario’s PSW framework develops.

Proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada

Confirms lawful employment eligibility before assignment

PSW certificate, recognized training, or equivalent experience

Shows readiness for personal support work and client-facing care

Two to three professional references

Verifies reliability, conduct, and previous care experience

Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check where needed

Supports safety for seniors, adults with disabilities, and vulnerable clients.

First Aid / CPR where required

Supports emergency readiness and safe escalation

Vaccination / immunization documentation where required

Supports infection-prevention expectations when applicable

Confidentiality and privacy agreement

Protects client, family, and health-related information.
